"Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve." (Colossians 3:23-24)
Senior Pastor

Ron Prosise is the Pastor-Teacher of Shepherd's Community Church. He received his Master of Divinity degree in Pastoral Ministry, then graduated in the first class from The Master’s Seminary for Doctorate in Expository Preaching. His passion is to equip Christ’s church through teaching and shepherding, and to see God’s word joyfully lived out through lives empowered by the Holy Spirit.

Ron came to faith in Christ at an early age. Not sure of what to do next, he began reading five chapters of the Bible every day. This started a life-long love of God’s word. As a teenager Ron came across the Navigators’ Topical Memory System and began memorizing Scripture in a way that was strategic and practical. In seminary someone gave him the book Our Sufficiency in Christ by John MacArthur, which fortified his convictions concerning the authority and sufficiency of God’s word for life and ministry. Ron has also been influenced by the writings of John Piper and Donald Whitney. You will quickly see Ron’s passion for God’s word whether it’s listening to his teaching or spending time with him one-on-one.

Ron is head over heels in love with his wife Donna, and crazy about his kids Jonathan and Anna. He enjoys roller blading and roller hockey, discovering new ethnic food restaurants, and playing cut-throat games of Scrabble, Chess, and Axis & Allies. God has graciously given him some unusual experiences in life, including jumping out of planes as an Army paratrooper, serving as a Marine Corps chaplain, ministering in Washington D.C. after the 9/11 attack, flying an F-15, preaching in the throne room of Saddam Hussein’s palace in Baghdad during the Iraq war, and serving as the second in command for the entire public education system in Iraq under the Coalition Provisional Authority, for which he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal.

Worship Minister

Kyle Petersen is the Worship Minister at Shepherd’s Community Church. Kyle’s ministry is devoted to the worship music at SCC as well as various other roles. He received his M.A. in Biblical Studies at the Master’s College in Santa Clarita, California in February 2010. Kyle’s greatest desire is to see Christ exalted through worship in every area of life, and to see His church become increasingly passionate about worshiping Him in spirit and truth as one body.

Kyle met his wife Heather at Target where they both worked in high school. They were married in June 2007, and are so thankful to the Lord for His faithfulness to them. Kyle enjoys spending time with his wife, other believers, music, studying God’s Word, reading books that range from Christian living to theology, hockey, and most of all the privilege of being a child of God.

Youth Minister

Ron was born and raised in Wisconsin and first heard the gospel message at the age of 23. After being mentored and being involved in ministry in his local church for five years he was encouraged to attend Bible College. In 1998 he enrolled at the Word of Life Bible Institute and graduated from their two year associates program. After graduating he joined the staff of the Bible Institute for the next two years. During those two years he met his wonderful wife Lisa and graduated from Practical Bible College in 2002 with a Bachelors of Religious Education.

After graduation, Ron and Lisa took an internship with a church in Binghamton, New York. They ministered for 4 years developing youth and young adult ministries. In 2006 they moved to Colorado for an associate pastor position. In 2009 the Martinez’ joined Shepherd’s Community Church to partner in developing youth that glorify God and reach their generation for Christ through study of the Word of God, personal discipleship, and activities.

Elder

Jim Wright is an Elder at Shepherd’s Community Church. His primary areas of ministry are teaching and oversight, and supporting our Senior Pastor in counseling and other areas of ministry as needed. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and works full time in the defense industry. But, more importantly, Jim has been a student of Jesus and God’s Living Word for nearly 30 years. He enjoys studying and teaching the knowledge and application of the Bible to equip himself and other Believers as they follow Jesus.

Jim prayed to receive Jesus as Savior at an early age. However, during his teenage years, he did not pursue Christ. One night, while a freshman in college, Jim woke up very fearful and decided to read a passage from the Bible, which was something he seldom ever did. By God’s Providence, Jim opened to Ps 119 and read how much King David treasured God’s Word, memorizing it and seeking to express his love for God by living by all of God’s commands. Jim realized that he was not pursuing God in this way, nor living with Jesus as the Lord, or boss, of his life. He decided to make his salvation sure that night, and was rebaptized shortly after that. Since then, one of the most special verses to Jim has become James 1:25 – “But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.”

Jim really enjoys being with his family whether it is on family vacations, visiting Colorado sites or just watching old movies together at home. He has been married to his best friend, Karlette, for over 25 years, and they have six children: Matthew (25), Melissa (20), Michelle (20), Mandy (18), Melea (13) and Moriah (10). Jim has done community work as a Ham radio communicator for the Civil Defense, worked on a police SCUBA rescue team, and he has a pilot’s license. His current hobbies mostly involve building things - Jim built their Florida home from the ground up!

Sean Allison and and his wife Lezlie are linguist-translators with Wycliffe Bible Translators. They have been working in a translation project in Cameroon, Africa since 1997. Currently Sean is completing a doctorate in Linguistics at the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Sean and Lezlie have four children, two of which are "Middlers". Their interest in the Middle School ministry of Shepherd's grows out of their desire to see middle school aged kids firmly grounded in God's Word with a clear understanding of their position before a Holy God and their need of God's redemption through the work of Christ on the cross.
